Originally gigging in the early 80’s as a live 5 piece UK disco band, “Midnite” were well known in the East Anglia area of Britain playing one-nighters on the US Air Force Base circuit. Creative pair Martin Spooner (Guitars) and Paul Woodlock (Keyboards) linked up with Peter Malski (Tivoli Records) who hired producer Clive Scott to re-record their first release “Paradise Drive”. Early demos and locally recorded cuts of “Paradise Drive” indicated that a creative change in direction was needed and top vocalist Jill Saward of Shakatak stepped in bringing her sultry & soulful vocal style to great effect. Released in February 1983 “Paradise Drive” quickly gained a substantial DJ & Club following peaking at #43 in the UK Disco Sales Chart, a top ten spot in the DJ Play Chart and the 7” radio edit was regularly rotated on BBC Radio 1’s mid-morning DLT Show throughout March and April that year. Several overseas licensing deals gave the track further exposure in Europe and the band recorded a follow-up “Never Gonna Stop” that although didn’t achieve the same success as it’s predecessor, nevertheless put the label firmly on the map.
For 2020 onwards we have re-branded the label name to enable the back catalogue to be re-released onto the digital streaming and download platforms. Spotify artist profile link:
